Honor God. Help People.
Honor God and Help People. I jotted this down in the back of my Bible as a young twenty-something, and the mandate still rings clear today. God has called believers to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation" (Mark 16:15 NASB). Lest you get overwhelmed, remember that the nations are a drop in the bucket to God (Isaiah 40:15)!
Thirty years ago this month God told me to "build a home base in Chesterfield from which to reach the nations of the world." That is the reason Service International (SI) is sending teams to Kosovo, Sri Lanka, and Africa. That's also why SI has spent over two years in the post-Katrina Gulf Coast, showing people the love of Jesus in tangible and practical ways. This action life that Christians are
called to is not elitist. It is a life of purpose that every believer is called to walk out day to day.
If you don't know where to start helping people, ask God. He said to ask and He would give the nations as an inheritance (Psalm 2:8). Pray that a door to preach the Word would be opened to you (Colossians 4:3). God's desire is that all men would hear the message of Jesus and come to know Him (1 Timothy 2:4).
Press on.
