Spiritual Guidance.
"Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
Spiritual guidance is not elusive to the believer. In fact, God is calling us to understand some things. In Proverbs 20:27 it says, "The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart" (NKJV). It's true for each individual that God uses our spirit to illuminate the rest of us. We are spiritual beings.
We are not just human beings having some little spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having this abbreviated human experience. In other words, God is a Spirit and He has created us in His image. He wants us to:
Walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16, 25).
Live by the Spirit (Galatians 5:25).
Be sensitive to the Spirit (Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:18).
Not grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).
Desire spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 14:1).
It goes on and on. In Jeremiah 33:3 God told the people of Israel that if we call to Him He will tell us great and mighty things which we do not know. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you" (John 14:26). God has sent His Holy Spirit to guide us in both the marginal and the gigantic deals of life--and, thank You, God, everywhere in between!
When we seek God He is faithful to send His Spirit, the Helper, to bear witness in our spirits, to gently and assuredly nudge us on our insides and guide us into all truth. It's our job to listen and obey, whether that means taking action or sitting still, speaking up or keeping our mouths closed.
Draw near. Be led. Follow. Press on.
