The Wisdom of Discipline.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5
If any man lacks wisdom let him ask. And let him read the Book of Proverbs, which is oozing with heavenly wisdom for everyday matters big and small, including the topic of discipline. Here are some verses about the value of godly discipline. Keep them before you and tuck them away into your Bible for a quick refresher.

  • My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord
        Or loathe His reproof,
For whom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
        Proverbs 3:11-12

  • He who neglects discipline despises himself,
But he who listens to reproof acquires understanding.
        Proverbs 15:32

  • Listen to counsel and accept discipline,
That you may be wise the rest of your days.
        Proverbs 19:20

  • Cease listening, My son, to discipline,
And you will stray from the words of knowledge.
        Proverbs 19:27

  • Apply your heart to discipline
And your ears to words of knowledge.
        Proverbs 23:12

  • Let's do it. Let's not rely on others to give a little push or wait for circumstances to align. Let's take it upon ourselves to cultivate discipline in our own lives for the purpose of godliness (1 Timothy 4:7).

    Press On,
    Pastor Jeff

Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NLT
