They Will Know.

By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35 In the above verse, Jesus tells us that people will know that we belong to Him by the way we love one another. Who we truly are—who we are as new creatures in Christ—is most evident in our moment-by-moment choices to love. This is what draws the world to Jesus. When folks see that by God's grace people really can sincerely love one another, well, that's quite a statement in a world gone wild with self-motivation, self-preservation, and self-glorification.

Our love for one another, with all of our similarities and differences considered, is the tangible representation of Jesus to a generation questioning whether or not God is real. Not only is He real, He's great and holy and smart and loving and kind and . . . this needs to be conveyed with sincerity to a world full of people Jesus has already died for.

When we get the Word in our minds and hearts we are transformed from the inside out. We are truly changed and not “acting” like Christians. Thank You, Jesus! Here are a few scriptures to encourage us in this area:

• Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Romans 10-13

• Regarding life together and getting along with each other, you don't need me to tell you what to do. You're God-taught in these matters. Just love one another! You're already good at it . . . Keep it up; get better and better at it. 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 The Message Bible

• Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1:22-23

• Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

Press on—in love!
