You Are Free!
Jesus invaded this world's fatal cycle of bondage and brought freedom to prisoners. And He didn't stop there: He set us free so we can be liberators (2 Corinthians 5:18). "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm" (Galatians 5:1a). In order to be ready to reach out, we need to discipline ourselves "for the purpose of godliness" (1 Timothy 4:7b). Discipline is not bondage but freedom to
live life in a better way! It doesn't make us any more saved or loved by God, but it does increase our effectiveness.
The constant battle between the spirit and flesh requires that we must flee temptation and follow Jesus. Paul writes, "Flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness" (1 Timothy 6:11). Don't be a spiritual Peter Pan, never growing in the Lord. Step up and discipline yourself. Radically pursue God's call in your life!
In the book of Matthew, Jesus speaks of the radical nature of the believer's life:
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven
suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. Matthew 11:12
This scripture reveals that God desires us to be people of action. We must recognize the importance of our contribution and commit personally. We are called to something wonderful, and God has fully equipped us for that good work (2 Timothy 3:17). You have all of His provision available to you (2 Peter 1:3; Ephesians 1:3). As you take action, God's faithfulness backs you up every time.
Life is about fiercely overcoming. God wants people who will discipline themselves for the call. This is our hour. We are carriers of the Gospel of liberation to our generation. All of us are products of obedient people who prayed, witnessed, and gave. Through simple acts of obedience, God has amazing plans worked out to impact multitudes.
We Will Finish!
